Amalfi Amore
The Quarry Amphitheatre, 22nd of September 2024
On the 22nd of September, Stevie and Nathan brought the vibrant spirit of the Amalfi Coast to life at the Quarry Amphitheatre. Adorned with citrus, bursts of colour, and flowing limoncello, their Italian-inspired wedding was nothing short of a dream. From stunning stair décor to a custom cannoli cart, every detail was perfectly executed.
Stevie and Nathan, it was an absolute pleasure to cater your special day. We’re thrilled to have been a part of such a special journey, we wish you nothing but the best and hope you are soaking it all up!
How They Met
“I was actually Nathan’s gym coach, he joined the gym I was working at about eight years ago! As time went on, we became friends and started training together. I always thought we were just friends, but it turns out Nathan had a different plan in mind! 😂 Then, after a few too many drinks at one of our Christmas parties (thanks, liquid courage), we ended up going home together. Since then, we’ve been pretty much inseparable!“
The Proposal
“Nathan proposed to me in Sorrento, Italy, one of our favorite places and the inspiration for our wedding styling. That day, we had been on a charter to Capri, I later found out that Nathan planned to propose on the boat, but the water was so choppy he was worried about dropping the ring. That evening, after dinner, he was acting SO weird and I was trying to figure out what was up. He kept suggesting a walk down to the beach, but I was too tired to deal with the stairs (no idea I was ruining his big plans 😂 ). So we started walking back to our hotel and passed a horse and carriage and Nathan convinced me to hop in. To my surprise, he proposed mid-ride! It turned out to be so cute and perfect!”
The Ceremony & Reception
Our Reception Venue: Quarry Amphitheatre
“Once we got engaged, we initially discussed having a destination wedding in Sorrento because we both loved it so much – the stunning lemon groves, the dramatic cliffs by the ocean, and the bright colours of blue tiles and limoncello everywhere! But we knew that many of our older family members wouldn’t be able to make the trip, so we decided to bring that vibe to Perth instead!
We chose the Quarry for our reception, as its rock walls reminded us of the Amalfi Coast and it was close to the beach. The theme was all about Amalfi vibes, with bright colours, lemons, and citrus everywhere. I had a vision but needed help to make it happen, so I worked with White Events to bring it to life. And WOW they did an incredible job – my jaw dropped when we walked into the reception for the first time! It truly felt like we were back in Italy, with lemons on the stairs, homemade limoncello, beautiful floral installations, the cannoli cart and tile print name cards. Everything was perfect. We had the most amazing day! Unforgettable!”
Our Advice For Other Couples
“Absolutely! If you can, hire an event planner. The stress they alleviate is worth every cent! Their industry knowledge and advice can save you a lot in the long run, especially when it comes to selecting vendors and suppliers.
Stay true to what you want. I worried a lot about having a bright, colourful wedding that might not feel traditional. I spent too much time stressing over how it would look and whether it might come off as tacky. In hindsight, I’m so glad I stuck with my vision, it turned out perfect and exactly how we wanted it! And if possible, do a first look at your reception, that was one of my favourite parts of the day!
As for the day itself, I know everyone says this, but it goes by so fast! Before you know it, it’s all over, so make an effort to pause with your partner throughout the day to soak it all in.
Lastly, invest in a great photographer and videographer. The day flies by, and being able to relive those special moments through photos and videos is absolutely worth it.”
The Honeymoon
“Our honeymoon is booked for December, and we’re heading back to Europe for a White Christmas! We’re starting in Budapest and Vienna to explore the Christmas markets. Then, we’re off to Lapland to stay in glass igloos, hoping to catch the northern lights! After that, we’ll head to the Swiss Alps for some skiing. And just when we thought we had it all planned, we decided to add a last-minute trip to Las Vegas for New Year’s Eve – because, why not? 🤣“
