Old Broadwater Farm Wedding
Brooke always knew that Mat’s proposal would be a spontaneous one, that’s just the kind of guy he is. So when she was getting ready for a typical Wednesday night date night with Mat, she had no idea what was about to happen.
“Mat proposed to me at Kings Park, the exact same place he asked me to be his girlfriend, he asked the question pretty quickly… ‘Will you marry me?’… and soon after he said, ‘Don’t worry it’s fake.’ (The ring, that was… I guess he knows I am a control freak so he didn’t trust himself to choose the ring.)”
Brooke and Mat, both wanted something a little more unique for their wedding day, the inspiration for the couple was Hampton’s meets the South West. With a some help from industry’s standouts like Zest group, Lily Rose Floral Design, Keeper Creative, Busselton’s Old Broadwater Farm they were able to achieve their dream – ‘all white’ wedding.
“The Old Broadwater Farm was the first venue we looked at and the last. Their beautiful venue was perfect for what we wanted. The all white marquee was blank canvas for me to style. We fell in love with the space instantly and knew the room had a lot of potential,” explains Brooke.
THE DRESS
“I was so excited to ask my my best friends to be a part of our special day. At the time one of my best friends was living in Melbourne, so my girlfriends and I thought why not do a girl trip and go wedding dress shopping?! After a few disappointments and a few joyful tears, we stumbled across local designer Mathieu Salem. He understood my vision for my gown and my bridesmaids dresses. Although he was in Melbourne the whole experience was smooth and a little exciting. I am fortunate enough to travel quite a lot with work, so Mathieu and I had a few fittings in a few airports haha.”
FUNNY MOMENTS
As my beautiful stylist was fluffing my dress out getting me all ready for the walk… My dad’s phone started ringing in his pocket; my mum lent over and said “Seriously Kevin?!!!” At that point I was feeling very emotional and a little overwhelmed, I just started laughing and felt so relieved! My dad always knows how to make me laugh. This moment definitely calmed the nerves!
THE STYLING
Brooke was never interested in following any of the trends, in fact she wanted the entire wedding to be white! – including the dress code! – Every last detail was white, even the dessert bar was full of delicious clean, crisp shades of whites, the only color was touches of greenery from the florals and Mat and his groomsmen’s blue tailored jackets.

Brookes tips for other brides: “Trust the people you hire. You hired them for a reason. I found the whole experience extremely fun and stress free. We explained our vision to all our vendors and left it in their capable hands. The venue is also so important, we chose a venue that had everything and took care of it all! It made it very very stress free for us.”
Brooke says marrying Mat was never a question of ‘if’, but ‘when’. “I’m lucky. I married my best friend and we had a great life, but now our life is even better.” Congratulations to Brooke and Mat, it was our absolute pleasure to be able to cater your special day, wishing you all the best for the future!
