Timeless Elegance
St George’s College, 12th January 2024
Ashleigh and Michael tied the knot on a hot summer day in January at the Cottesloe Civic Centre, followed by their reception at St George’s College. Every detail was meticulously curated to create a vision of all-white grandeur. The venues were adorned with exquisite white florals, delicate linens, and ethereal drapery, transforming both locations into a white wonderland.
We want to extend a huge congratulations to Ashleigh and Michael. We had the pleasure of catering your wedding and couldn’t be happier with the result. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day and create delicious food for your friends and loved ones.
How They Met
“Mike and I met on the off chance when we both attended the Sean Kingston concert at Eve Nightclub when it still existed back in 2016. We were standing at the bar with friends, and I guess you could say I caught his eye because being the gentleman he is, he offered to buy me a drink. We completely hit it off and spent the rest of the night chatting, laughing and dancing. The night ended with us exchanging numbers and within a month we were exchanging ‘I love you’s’ – when you know, you know! “
The Proposal
“The day of the proposal just so happened to be the same date as the night we met (October 1st), however this time instead of dancing in a club, we were on an adventure in northern WA. With another couple we spent time in Coral Bay and Exmouth doing crazy amounts of snorkeling and whale watching, before we changed up the scenery and made our way inland to Karijini which was our final pitstop. After a few days experiencing some of the most incredible gorges, we all had dinner together before deciding we should take some group photos to mark the end of our trip. Mike snuck off to our eco tent to apparently “grab his phone”, then those group photos happened to turn into couple photos. Just as it was our turn and the sun was setting behind us, he was down on one knee, and through all the tears (there were a lot) I said yes!”
The Ceremony & Reception
Our ceremony & reception venue: Secret Garden, Cottesloe Civic Centre & St. George’s College.
“If we could go back in time to our wedding day we would in a heartbeat, even though it was an almost 40 degree day and our wedding was entirely outside – it rained after our first dance too!
Our ceremony was held in the Secret Garden at the Cottesloe Civic Centre, whilst our reception was at St. George’s College. Our theme was very minimalist yet romantic; the ceremony featured clear chairs and vertical white and green floral installations at the altar, whilst the reception had white velvet furniture for cocktail hour, candles and fabric draping over the tables, and chandeliers hanging above the bridal table.
Some of the more personal details were an audio guestbook, a ‘Sip and Solve’ crossword, and monograms of our initials which were served in glasses of champagne to our guests. The talk of the night though was definitely the catering and cake!”
Our Advice For Other Couples
“Our first piece of advice is if it’s within your budget, we recommend a wedding planner or at the very least an on the day coordinator. Mike and I both work in construction so our lives can be pretty busy sometimes, but Kiera and Talia from Little Things Events kept us on track, and supported us throughout the entire journey. They think of all the details you might forget, but most importantly ensure your day runs smoothly.
Whilst you will express gratitude to your guests during a speech, if you have the opportunity it’s special to thank them individually too. What worked really well for us was between meals, we would visit each table as a couple so we had quality time with that group, and together as newlyweds. We would also suggest a ‘first look’ of the reception venue if you have time!”
The Honeymoon
“When we got married, we had taken around a month off as our families had travelled from New Zealand and Zimbabwe and wanted to spend as much time with us as possible. Because of that, we decided to save our honeymoon for our one year anniversary and we’ll be going to the Maldives – watch this space ;)”
