COVID-19 Hospitality Hygiene Staff Training
Update: 11th June 2020
Ultimo prides itself on exceptional hygiene standards to ensure the safety of all staff and customers. That’s why all Ultimo staff (including office staff) have completed the COVID-19 hospitality hygiene training course.
We want to reassure you that your safety is our priority and will ensure all staff are kept up to date with hygiene practices in line with the advice from the Australian government.
We’re Still Here
Update: 18th May 2020
We’ve been feeding Perth for over 20 years, and nothing’s changed. We are still here and ready to create magical moments at your functions & events. Now, more than ever, it’s important to support local hospitality businesses and to plan some positive experiences to look forward to.
Food is intrinsically tied to our emotions – and nothing beats good food and drink shared among family and friends. As restrictions ease, events and functions can slowly resume and we’ll be here to help.
If you were thinking of holding an event or celebrating a special occasion – get in touch to discuss options. Let us Feed Your Imagination!
Keeping Our Team Together
Update: 18th May 2020
At a time like this, the hospitality industry faces a big challenge. With most events cancelled or postponed, there is a fraction of our usual work. Despite the hurdles, we stuck together. Ultimo kept our entire team employed because we care about our employees and their families, and once this is over we can’t bounce back without our valuable staff.
With 14 full timers and 20 casuals still employed with the help of Job Keeper and a few addition casual staff remaining employed – we are ready to hit the ground running. We wanted to make sure we can deliver the best service for your function or event with the same exceptional staff post COVID-19.
Our kitchen is open for On Demand ‘work from home’ deliveries and we’re offering some awesome grazing boxes for the West Australian Ballet’s digital season of Genesis, delivered to your door. Last but not least, we’ve re-opened Claremont Pizza! These are just some of the ways you can help support us and our team during this time.
Safe Catering & Delivery
Update: 18th March 2020
Let’s start with the good news! Food is safe.
There is currently no evidence that food is a likely source or route of transmission of the virus. EFSA’s chief scientist, Marta Hugas, said: “Experiences from previous outbreaks of related coronaviruses, show that transmission through food consumption did not occur. At the moment, there is no evidence to suggest that coronavirus is any different in this respect.”
We want to reassure our clients that it’s safe to continue to trust Ultimo for their catering needs and to encourage you to support locally-owned hospitality businesses however you can during this unique time.
We are doing everything within our power to ensure our customers are safe, including restricting access to our kitchen facility to essential staff only. Staff are subject to mandatory temperature checks before entering kitchen and/or handling or delivering food.
We appreciate your continued trust and support,
The Ultimo Team
What Extra Measures Are We Taking?
As one of WA’s most reputable caterers, we have always maintained a high level of hygiene standards. We have implemented the below best-practice measures along with our standard health and hygiene procedures to ensure peace of mind.
GENERAL STANDARDS FOR ALL STAFF
- Staff members who have returned from a high-risk jurisdiction in the past 4 weeks have been stopped from returning to work within their first 14 days after their return.
- Staff members who are returning from a high-risk jurisdictions in the future or have been exposed to confirmed or suspected Coronavirus cases will be stopped from coming to work for 14 days from their return.
- If any staff fall sick, they are required to obtain a letter stating that they are safe to return to work prior to entering the workplace.
- All staff informed of good hygiene practices and are ensuring adherence and continued focus.
- Any staff that can work from home, are doing so.
FOOD PREPARATION, DELIVERY & SERVICE STANDARDS
- We are employing all usual measures as per the relevant food safety standards and always operate within a spotless kitchen.
- We are actively monitoring the health of our kitchen staff and in case they fall sick, we are not permitting them to stay at work.
- We require chefs, drivers and wait staff to sanitise their hands prior to picking up product and are requiring all staff to wear food safe gloves during function service. Gloves will be changed regularly.
We are restricting access to our kitchen facility to essential staff only. Staff are subject to mandatory temperature checks before entering kitchen and/or handling or delivering food.
FLEXIBILITY AROUND CANCELLATION / POSTPONING
We appreciate this is a unique and unpredictable situation, therefore we are offering our clients options around postponing to a later date to avoid losing their deposits. We are actively working with all our clients to ensure ‘best case’ scenarios for all involved.
What can you do?
The show must go on, but what’s the point without good food?!
Many of our functions and events have been postponed for various reasons. However, our ‘On Demand‘ deliverable catering service remains a popular and safe way to look after your team during this time. (Not to mention easier than dealing with supermarkets right now!)
We offer plenty of individual lunchboxes or salads with individually wrapped Biopack cutlery sets, for additional reassurance. Our kitchen and delivery team are all subject to mandatory temperature checks before entering kitchen and/or handling or delivering food.
Online orders for same day delivery ensures that no matter what your day throws at you – you have the flexibility to order catering delivered safely to your team. Delicious, fresh & healthy catering has always been a great morale booster and we encourage our customers to continue ordering from WA’s most trusted caterer with peace of mind.
