A Pop Of Colour
The Quarry Amphitheatre, 6th April 2024
Taylor and Alex tied the knot at the Quarry Amphitheatre with a gorgeous seated reception to follow. Their vision of modern elegance came to life with all-white décor, accented by touches of purple and green florals, sleek black chairs, and soft drapery, creating an inviting and sophisticated atmosphere.
We want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Taylor and Alex. It was an absolute pleasure to cater your wedding, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. Thank you for trusting us to be a part of your special day and allowing us to create delicious food for your friends and family.
How They Met
“We were both invited out to a local bar by friends who were dating at the time. Alex didn’t want to come out, but his friends convinced him to go. I also didn’t want to go out (fresh out of the shower ready for bed), but my friend called me and my mum told me to “go out and have fun, you’re young”. We both got to the bar and we were talking to our own friend groups and never said a word to one another. We all ended up catching Ubers from the bar to Jack Rabbits Slims and Alex and I headed straight to the bar and he offered to buy me a drink. We started to chat and didn’t stop talking all night long. We eventually moved from the bar into those red booths and continued to chat the night away. “
The Proposal
“Alex wanted to surprise me without me catching on so he planned the proposal around my birthday. He told me to pack a bag and that he would drop me to work and he would pick me up. He wouldn’t tell me where we were going and I really just thought this was a surprise for my birthday. We ended up at the Ritz Carlton Perth where we chilled for a bit, went for a swim and started to get ready for dinner. there were multiple times where Alex looked a little nervous, but I brushed it off. He said that he wanted to give me my birthday gift before dinner and he told me to hold out my hand and close my eyes. In one hand he poured me a glass a wine from Hay Shed Hill that we had been cellaring for a special occasion and told me to guess what it was. When I opened my eyes he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. Afterwards Alex asked me if he asked me to marry him because he thought he blacked out haha.”
The Ceremony & Reception
Our ceremony & reception venue: Quarry Amphitheatre
“We both wanted a timeless, contemporary feel to our day with a pop of colour. We had our ceremony on the cafe lawn of the Quarry Amphitheatre where we had our guests served Idle Hand cocktails whilst they were awaiting our arrival. This was important to us as we wanted our guests to feel relaxed and make the ceremony feel a little more casual. We had a plinth with a big floral sculpture that we planned to repurpose for our audio book nook at reception. We also changed it up a bit and had the groomsman/Alex’s family on the Bride’s side and the Bridesmaids/my family (Taylor) on the grooms side. We both felt that this helped calm our nerves. During our vows when I got nervous, other than Alex I could look directly at my family and friends and Alex could do the same. For our reception we wanted a lot of mood lighting and it definitely added to the overall feeling of the night. We had a audio book nook where our guests could leave a message for us and it was a spot guests could take photos. We also had dessert canapes whilst everyone was dancing. We both wanted maximum party time and having the canapés helped. It was also good for those who don’t like sweets or are picky with what they eat, we gave a few different options and everyone was happy.”
Our Advice For Other Couples
“Weddings are stressful and its important to not get lost in all the glitz and glamour. It is so lovely to have everything looking nice and aesthetic, but don’t forget why you are there and what you are committing to. Make sure you put trust in your vendors. We didn’t have a stylist or planner and we both had to put trust in the people we hired and were very happy with the end result. Everyone was very professional and experienced and it made the planning all that much easier. Think about whether or not you want to join your guests at reception. We both wished we had done a first look and photos before the ceremony when makeup and hair was fresh. The day does go quick so every moment you get with you husband/wife and loved ones is so important. We also recommend politely asking guests not to say goodbye at the end of the night. It was great chatting to our friends and family throughout, but we never noticed our guests leaving and we just enjoyed the night with the people who stayed till the end.”
The Honeymoon
“We went to Lombok, Indonesia. We camped out at a resort called “somewhere” and it was the best time we both had in a long time. We wanted to go to a place where we knew we could just relax. We didn’t want to be tourists on our honey moon, sight seeing and being rushed around. We ate a lot, swam, and had massages all day long. We both recommend to future couples to choose a place you know you can relax. Have no itinerary and just do you.”
