A very special wedding for one of Ultimo’s own
Assembly Yard, 28th Feb 2021
Ben has been part Ultimo’s chef team for many years, so this was a very special wedding for Ultimo to cater!
With Ben on the other side of the kitchen for a change, and our Executive Chef (among other Ultimo employees) hanging up their aprons for the night to be guests, our remaining team were keen to ensure everything (especially the food) was perfect for Ben and his gorgeous other half Caroline. No pressure!
Caroline & Ben had originally planned to marry in April 2020 – but due to Covid-19, they postponed to February 2021. They tied the knot at Assembly Yard in Fremantle, followed by a seated reception with absolutely stunning classic green and white florals by Matthew Landers.
One of our favourite parts of catering weddings is creating our couples dream day. This one was even more rewarding as it was for one of our own team. We asked the newly-weds to share their love story and some of their favourite moments from their day.
How They Met
“We met whilst working at a ‘dodgy bistro’ – he was a pizza chef and I was a terrible waitress. We were friends, but it took another two years for it to blossom into romance, after a date at Little Creatures in Fremantle.”
The Proposal
“Ben proposed to me at home on the couch, and thank goodness he did, because there were some ugly tears!”
The Ceremony & Reception
Our ceremony & reception venue: Assembly Yard, Fremantle
“After the initial heartbreak of our first wedding date, when our wedding finally rolled around, it really was the most perfect day – we couldn’t have asked for more from our incredible vendors. Everyone raved about the food, which was the highlight for us. With Ben being a chef, it had to be above and beyond, and Ultimo delivered and then some.
We were so grateful to have Chapman Films provide us with a livestream throughout the ceremony and reception, which meant our family and friends overseas could be still be involved in our day, albeit from afar.”
The theme of the night was: Classic, yet casual
Our first dance was to:
Ain’t nobody love me better – Felix Jaehn
Our Advice For Other Couples
“Set up a separate email address to keep the planning separate from everyday life! If I had a dollar for every email that got buried under other junk….
AND … In the times of COVID-19, take a big breath and roll through it as best you can.”
The Honeymoon
“Our to-die-for honey moon destination was the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games – but not to be. We had an amazing Wander out Yonder honeymoon instead (Pemberton, Denmark, Albany, Bremer Bay, Esperance, Margaret River, Exmouth and Coral Bay), with some priceless experiences.”
