Dreamy romantic elegance, at the Quarry
10th April 2021
Maddison & Andrew tied the knot at the Quarry Amphitheatre, with a beautiful ceremony followed by a stunning seated reception. We asked the newly-weds to share some of the highlights from their day and some advice for other couples planning their own big day.
The Proposal
This gorgeous couple met at work and were friends for 3 years before Andrew worked up the courage to ask Maddison out. He summoned his courage again for an intimate and special beach proposal.
“We were down south in Yallingup and having our favourite red wine on the beach, with a couple of deck chairs. Andrew was acting weird and looked super uncomfortable.. until he rolled out of his deck chair and was on one knee! I burst into tears during his spiel, and he had to ask me through all of the tears ‘so is that a yes?’
… it was!
The Big Day
What a day! Maddison and Andrew’s theme for the day was simple and romantic with modern elegance. Sophia Monique Weddings was their wedding planner and stylist, and did she deliver!!
Maddison and Andrew were married at the base of the Amphitheatre stairs in front of a custom white backdrop wall, adorned with baby’s breath and white roses. Maddison sparkled coming down the steps in a gown by Galia Lahav. The couple had their good friend Jak McClory offer to complete a celebrants course to become a fully qualified marriage celebrant so he could marry them on the day. “It was such a great surprise for our guests and he absolutely killed it”.
The dinner and reception was held in the clear marquee, and it was transformed into a romantic and elegant dream-scape, with layers of white and grey textures. Gorgeous Freak Haus florals of baby’s breath and white roses on both the tables and hanging from the marquee roof, complimented the clear ghost chairs, white table linens and grey napkins from Hire Society.
The classic lighting and simple candles in glass hurricanes were elegant and timeless. As well as the perfectly executed signage and stationary to tie the whole look together.
Maddison and Andrew had their first dance to “You’re Still the One – Shania Twain” – with Maddison changing into her party dress after the formalities were done and in time for the dancefloor to ramp up! “It was so nice to be able to move freely and dance without the weight of my wedding dress.. and it saved the condition of the hem too”.
Maddison’s Tips For Other Brides
- Get a planner! I couldn’t have done it myself with all of the hours and details it no doubt took to bring our special day together. It’s the best money you’ll ever spend.
- Have good booze, good food and good music – Make sure you’ve got variety in your alcohol list, crowd favourites on the food menu, and an awesome DJ.
- Flowers! Splurge on flowers. You’ll be thankful you did on the day when you walk through your reception “room reveal”, and then see your photos come through later.
