This is what a Billion Dollar Wedding Looks Like

Will this go down in history as the most expensive wedding ever?

Russian Billionaire’s son, Said Gutseriev, 28, married 20-year-old student Khadija Uzhakhovs in Moscow in March in what was a jaw-droppingly lavish, star-studded affair, rumoured to have cost up to $US 1 billion.

The groom’s father, Russian businessman Mikhail Gutseriev, is valued at $US 6.2 billion. He made his money in oil and writes songs for Russian performers on the side.

THE VENUE

Held at luxury Moscow restaurant and banqueting venue Safisa, the wedding set up was … bolder than your average. Think walls upon walls of fresh flowers. Fairytale furniture sourced from Paris. Posh fairy lights dripping from the ceiling like willow leaves. This, was no-holds barred, wedding theatre.

ENTERTAINMENT

Guests were treated to live performances by Jennifer Lopez, Sting and Enrique Iglesias. It hasn’t been confirmed how much they were paid to perform, but Jennifer Lopez was reportedly paid more than $US1 million to perform three songs in 2013 for Turkmenistan’s president, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. So it can’t have been cheap.

THE DRESS

The bride wore an Elie Saab gown, imported from Paris. It allegedly weighed 25lb thanks to the huge train and heavy embellishment. The bride needed the assistance of several people to carry her train and help her walk upstairs. Elie Saab dresses can typically range from $9,000 – $32,000 AUD. There’s also a jewelled clutch, tiara and neck bling combo going on.

CAKE

The cake was bigger than your house. There’s a good chance astronauts could see it from space.

AFTER PARTY

The party continued in London, according to reports. It is believed to have included a concert by singing legends Sir Elton and Beyoncé, despite it being a smaller affair for ‘close family and friends’.

Dreams are free. Weddings like this, are not.
